How to Add the Exphora AI Chat Widget to Your Website

April 30, 2026 3 min read4 steps

The Exphora AI chat widget is a small floating chat that lives on your website. It answers visitor questions about your services using your own content, and qualifies the conversation into a lead the moment a real opportunity surfaces.

What the widget does

Installing the widget

  1. 1

    Open Settings → AI Widget

From the settings sidebar, click AI Widget. Copy the embed snippet (a few lines of HTML/JavaScript).

  2. 2

    Paste before </body>

Add the snippet to your site's footer template, just before the closing </body> tag. WordPress users can install the official Exphora plugin instead.

  3. 3

    Customize prompts and branding

Back in Settings, set the welcome message, qualifying questions, and human-handoff trigger. Branding inherits from Settings → Branding automatically.

  4. 4

    Test the lead-capture flow

Open your website in a private window, chat with the bot, and confirm a new lead lands in your Exphora Lead Inbox.

Frequently asked questions

People also ask

Does the widget work on any website?
Yes. Any HTML site, any framework (WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Shopify, custom). It's a single script tag that loads asynchronously.
Will the widget slow my site down?
No. The script loads async and lazy-renders the chat bubble. Initial page load is unaffected.
Can I disable the widget on certain pages?
Yes. Add data-exphora-disabled="true" to the body tag on any page you want to exclude.
Where does the widget get its answers?
From your indexed sitemap, custom knowledge base entries, and any prompt overrides you define. You can also pass it specific URLs to crawl.
Are conversations stored?
Yes. Every conversation is attached to its lead record in Exphora and visible in the contact timeline.
